Gaming LICENCES in MAlta
Under the Remote Gaming Regulations, 2004 there are distinguished classes of Remote Gaming Licences namely :
Class 1: Casino Style Games, Lotteries and Slots
This licence applies to operators that offer games which are based on repetitive events and the gaming risk is managed by the operator. This type of licence covers casino table style games, lotteries and slots.
Class 2: Sports Betting
This licence covers operators which manage risk based on singular events using markets. This licence covers the traditional fixed odds betting and some forms of pool betting and spread betting.
Class 3: P2P, Betting Exchanges, Skins, Tournaments, Bingo
This licence applies to operators which organise player to player games but do not partake in the risk, such as betting exchange providers, bingo, P2P, pools and poker rooms.
Class 4: Software vendors
This licence covers software vendors and platform operators who intend to host and manage remote gaming operators having any class of the above. Under this class, the licensee cannot participate in the gaming risk.
Class 1 on 4:
An online gaming licence for all types of games of chance and games of skill operating on a Class 4 licensee.
Class 3 on 4:
A licence to promote and abet gaming from Malta on an existing Class 4 licencee.
Applicants may apply for more than one licence.
A licence is valid for a period of five years, which period is renewable for further five year periods. Licences are non-transferrable and non-assignable except with the prior written consent of the LGA.
